LiFePO4 vs NMC batteries in power stations

Pinned models: EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus, Jackery Explorer 1000 v2, Anker SOLIX C1000, EcoFlow DELTA Pro 3, Jackery Explorer 1000 Pro · Last checked 2026-10-25

Checked: 2026-10-25.

Power stations use one of two lithium-ion chemistries: LiFePO4 (LFP, lithium iron phosphate) or NMC (nickel manganese cobalt). All three current ~1 kWh models we pinned use LFP.

What the manufacturers state for their LFP models

ModelChemistryRated cycle lifeSource
EcoFlow DELTA 3 PlusLFP4000 cycles to 80+% capacityhttps://us.ecoflow.com/products/delta-3-plus-portable-power-station
Jackery Explorer 1000 v2LiFePO44000 cycles to 70%+ capacityhttps://www.jackery.com/products/jackery-explorer-1000-v2
Anker SOLIX C1000LiFePO43,000 cycles to 80%+ capacityhttps://www.ankersolix.com/products/c1000
EcoFlow DELTA Pro 3LFP4000 cycles to 80% (0.5C/0.5C at 25°C)https://us.ecoflow.com/products/delta-pro-3-portable-power-station

Note the end-of-life thresholds differ (70% vs 80%), so the cycle numbers are not directly comparable.

NMC side

Jackery's own FAQ gives a like-for-like pair: the Explorer 1000 Pro (NMC, an earlier model) and the Explorer 1000 v2 (LiFePO4).

Jackery writes "NCM", the same nickel-cobalt-manganese chemistry often called NMC.

What this pair shows, and only for these two models: Jackery rates its NMC unit for 1000 cycles to 80% and its LFP unit for 4000 cycles to 70%. The end-of-life thresholds differ, so the numbers are not a direct 4× comparison. In this pair the LFP unit is also the lighter one per Wh (about 10.1 g/Wh vs 11.5 g/Wh), so the pair does not show NMC as lighter. Newer design, not chemistry alone, may explain that.

We do not make general claims about energy density or safety for either chemistry, because we have not found an official or standards source for them.
