About WattHourLab
WattHourLab is an independent site. It publishes plain-language guides on portable power stations, home backup batteries and solar pairing, for people who want backup power and more energy independence without guesswork.
How guides are researched
- Guides are built from official docs, spec sheets and vendor data: manufacturer spec pages and manuals, and official sources such as the FAA, CDC and Ready.gov.
- Every guide names the exact models it covers, links its sources and shows the date its facts were last checked.
- If a spec cannot be verified from an official source, the guide makes no claim about it and lists it as unverified in its fact-check list, rather than guessing.
- Each guide ends with a fact-check list showing what was verified and what is still open.
- Worked examples use example loads, labelled as examples, not measurements.
Safety
Anything that connects to your home wiring (transfer switches, inlet boxes, smart panels) must be installed by a licensed electrician under local codes and permits. Our home backup pages are background reading, not installation instructions.
EV life
The planned EV life section will hold first-hand posts written by the site owner. Until those are written, the section only lists planned topics.
